Kwasi Bita, also known as kwasibita or kwassie wood, is a classic bitter herb within Surinamese oso dresi. It is derived from the bark of the kwasi tree (Quassia amara) and is known for its very strong and intense bitterness.
Within herbal traditions, Kwasi Bita is used by both men and women as part of general herbal routines. Due to its extreme bitterness, this herb is traditionally used consciously, in small amounts, and for short periods.

A few pieces of bark (approx. 5–10 cm) are left to steep in water
It can also be used as tea, traditionally by women for support during menstruation

The very bitter taste usually determines the quantity and steeping time
Use
Place the product in an empty 500 ml bottle, then add water
(or alcohol as an optional choice)
Not for daily or long-term use
Always alternate with rest periods
Alcohol (optional, personal choice)
Some people place Kwasi Bita in a bottle of rum
