Séémái
Séémái (Mimosa pudica)
Traditional herb from Suriname
Available as dried leaves and stems
Séémái, also known in Suriname as the sensitive plant, is known for its unique leaf movement: when touched, the leaves close. Besides this remarkable feature, the plant is valued within Surinamese oso dresi as a strong and distinctive herb.
The dried leaves and stems have a bitter, slightly astringent taste, typical of herbs that are traditionally used for awareness, concentration, or supporting the blood.
